The Serie A relegation fight tightened after Week 27, with Pisa and Hellas Verona left well behind and four clubs separated by three points for the final drop spot.
With the Week 27 fixtures complete, results have reshaped the battle to stay up. According to Football Italia, Pisa and Hellas Verona are on 15 points from 27 rounds, nine adrift of the pack.
There are three relegation places in a 20-team league, and it will take a miracle for Pisa and Hellas Verona to avoid Serie B. Torino’s win over Lazio might have lifted them clear, leaving Genoa on 27 points and Fiorentina, Cremonese and Lecce on 24.
Fiorentina had pulled away in recent weeks, but are back in trouble, above the bottom three only on goal difference.
If two teams finish level in the final relegation place, they will contest a special play-off. If three or more sides are tied, a mini-table of head-to-head results determines the bottom two, who then go into the play-off.
