Sassuolo picked up their second win of the 2025-26 Serie A season with a convincing 3-1 victory over Udinese, with goals from Armand Lauriente, Ismael Kone, Keinan Davis and Edoardo Iannoni.
Fabio Grosso made just one change to his Neroverdi side after their 2-1 defeat by Inter last time out in Serie A, while Kosta Runjaic made a couple more alterations, bringing in Nicolo Zaniolo and 17-year-old Matteo Palma for his league debut.
Sassuolo’s front three all combined for the Neroverdi opener: Andrea Pinamonti won the flick-on on the half-way line, Domenico Berardi capitalised and slipped in Lauriente, who made no mistake with his finish from the left of the area.
Lauriente was involved again for Sassuolo’s second just a few minutes later, providing the assist for Kone, who dribbled his way into the area from the left-flank and slotted past Razvan Sava from the corner of the six-yard box.

Udinese were left feeling hard-done by when they saw two penalty decisions overturned after VAR checks.
Zaniolo went down under the challenge of Lauriente in the area midway through the first half, but a thorough review ended with the decision going the other way; Sassuolo winning a free-kick within their own area instead.
Oumar Solet then went down when he felt he was clipped by Sebastian Walukiewicz towards the end of the opening period, but again, a penalty was not awarded after the referee went over to the screen.
Davis was in the right place at the right time to half the Bianconero deficit 10 minutes into the second half. The Englishman had the whole of the net to tap into after Muric spilled Arthur Atta’s low shot in the area.
Sassuolo reestablished their two-goal advantage with 10 minutes of regular time remaining: Substitute Alieu Fadera held the ball up well on the left flank before floating in a cross for fellow sub Iannoni to head home in the middle of the box.
Today’s result puts Sassuolo up to 12th place in the Serie A standings, one point behind Udinese in 10th. Both positions are subject to change depending on the results of Sunday’s other Serie A matches.
