Atalanta squandered a big chance on Wednesday, losing 3-2 at home to Athletic Club, yet they are the best-placed Italian side, 13th on 13 points.

Inter are 14th with 12 points after winning their first four games then losing the next three.

Juventus beat Benfica 2-0 on Wednesday to join Inter on 12 points, but they trail on goal difference.

Napoli have eight points, the same as PSV, Athletic Club, Olympiacos and Copenhagen, but their goal difference of minus five leaves them outside the top 24 and virtually out.

Antonio Conte’s side host Chelsea next Wednesday in their final league-phase game. All fixtures will kick off at 21:00 CET, with Juventus away to Monaco, Inter at Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta travelling to Union Saint-Gilloise.
