Sevilla’s search for a reliable centre-forward has hit two setbacks, while a free-agent alternative has come back into view.
After the exits of Alexis Sánchez and Akor Adams, Luis García Plaza has only Isaac Romero leading the line. According to ABC de Sevilla, the club tracked Fede Viñas and David Romero, but both pursuits have become complicated.
Viñas is set to join Toluca for around 15 million dollars, a fee beyond Sevilla’s budget.
As for David Romero, Boca Juniors and other suitors can reach 10 million euros, also out of range for the Andalusian club at present.
With costly deals off the table, Sevilla are weighing cheaper options. One is Senegal forward Bamba Dieng, a free agent after leaving Lorient and seeing proposed moves to Saudi Arabia and Türkiye fall away.
His switch to Amed SK collapsed after his medical. Journalist Santi Aouna reports it fell through when new intermediaries entered talks and the agreed terms changed significantly, the second collapse after Al-Shabab. Sevilla can keep exploring this route, which fits their current finances.
