Leeds United Women travel to Norton and Stockton Ancients for the second time this campaign on Sunday, this time in the initial Adobe Women’s FA Cup fixture.
Last time out, Leeds defeated York 5-2 on the road in the final FA WNL Cup group stage clash, with Ellie White netting a hattrick, Monique Watson scoring on her full debut, and Kath Smith firing home a half-volley.
Ahead of the clash, captain Shauna Legge said: “We’ve had a good week of training in the buildup, we know the result last time at Norton was disappointing to say the least so we’ve tightened up in areas we can improve in.
“We definitely want a good cup run, it’s the magic of the FA Cup, it’s probably the best cup you can be a part of and we want to go far in it.
“We know how successful Leeds were when we faced Arsenal, to replicate that would be something special.
“We definitely need to start building and continuing momentum after a couple of wins, it’s something we spoke about in training, and cup games will hopefully help us do this.
“Switching between league and cup games doesn’t really matter – we want to win every game.
“The last time out against Norton was really disappointing, we know we should’ve come away with the win and I think we did enough to win - we don’t want to feel that again.
“It’s an important game, every game is important, we want to win every game we possibly can
“We know they’re a good side, with conceding late on last time we’ve worked on that in training and we’re ready to show we’ve tightened up on areas we think we can improve on.
“We want to show that on Sunday, hopefully come out with a dominant performance and get the win.”
