The Blades midfielder has been the subject of increased exit talk in recent weeks
Sheffield United ace Gustavo Hamer's stance on a potential departure from Bramall Lane has been revealed amid links to both Leeds United and PSV Eindhoven.
The Blades' creator-in-chief was named as the Championship's standout performer at the EFL Awards on April 27th, just weeks before his side missed out on a return to the Premier League in the most agonising of fashions against Sunderland in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
Hamer is now working under the third boss of his current spell at Bramall Lane, as former Hull City head coach, Ruben Selles, was recently appointed as Chris Wilder's successor as United's American ownership group, COH Sports, continue to take a data-driven approach to goings-on in this part of the Steel City.
Exit talk has surrounded the Dutch-Brazilian maestro for quite some time given his performances during the club's dismal top-flight campaign two seasons ago, and it has only heightened since the club's crushing defeat in North London last month.
But, despite the potential for the 28-year-old to feature in next season's UEFA Champions League, it is believed that Hamer is leaning more towards a Premier League move, which comes as a major boost to one of the Blades' Yorkshire rivals.
The former Coventry City man moved to S2 for a reported £15m in August 2023 after an array of stellar performances in Sky Blue, and such a theme has very much continued under Paul Heckingbottom and the aforementioned Wilder.
Leeds' interest in Hamer has very much been long-standing and concrete, with it being revealed in April that the Elland Road club moved to secure his services following the departure of Georginio Rutter. After seeing his relegation release clause expire, the Whites had a £13m bid swiftly knocked back before deciding not to press forward towards the £20m mark.
It has since been reported that Daniel Farke has both Hamer and his former Norwich City colleague, Emi Buendia, as two potential options to bolster Leeds' creative department.
PSV's interest was registered by Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagsblad, with a report stating that Hamer could be available for a fee in the region of €8 million-€12 million when taking bonuses and add-ons into account, although the journalist would later report that it remains to be seen whether last season's Eredivisie champions would heighten their interest.
Fellow Dutch publication, Soccernews, has since claimed that whilst PSV are interested in striking a deal, the former Feyenoord and PEC Zwolle man is in favour of moving back to the Premier League during the current transfer window.
TEAMtalk reported in April that Hamer was on a list of potential targets for Everton ahead of the Toffees' first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, although it is stated within Soccernews' fresh update that a move to the Philips Stadion is "not impossible."
Although United have seen their loan performers from last season return to their parent clubs, losing Hamer would be a significant early blow to Selles' aims of seeing the Blades finish in a similar, if not better, position than last term during his first season in charge.
The playmaker registered 16 goals and assists combined last term - more than any other figure at Bramall Lane - with his composure and technical ability in particular, two key attributes which make it obvious that Selles would love to build a new-look side around him.
