Two of the club's Championship rivals have had offers rejected for the forward.
Sheffield Wednesday are "determined" to hold onto striker Bailey Cadamarteri until the transfer window closes.
The Owls only have a matter of minutes left until the threat of their players being bought ceases to exist, at least until January. They have had to make some unwanted sales this summer in order to finance the club, but it appears that no more of these gut-wrenching losses will be made before 7pm this evening.
Cadamarteri was a potential candidate to leave the club on Deadline Day, and technically still is while there is time left on the clock. Wednesday's arch rivals Sheffield United and fellow Championship competitors are two of the sides that are reported to have had offers rejected for the 20-year-old forward.
£1 million-plus bids were presented to the Owls, but, despite their recent financial issues, they have decided that they want to keep Cadamarteri and not cash in on him, as per The Star.
The son of former EFL forward Danny Cadamarteri and brother of 15-year-old Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri, who joined Manchester City earlier in the summer for £1.5 million, is set to stick around for much longer than just beyond the end of the current transfer window. His contract with Wednesday runs until the summer of 2028.
A move away from the club whose academy he has risen through isn't something that the player is seeking either, according to The Star. This season has presented him with the opportunity of being Wednesday's main man up top. Cadamarteri has started four games for the club and has scored once, helping the Owls to their only point of the season so far in a 2-2 draw with Wrexham.
Pierce Charles was in a similar situation to Cadamarteri with a number of teams looking to snap him up before today's evening deadline. But the same goes for the Northern Irish international and jewel in the club's currently battered crown: there is no expectation that he will be leaving Hillsborough any time soon and a new contract could soon be on the horizon.
Unfortunately for Henrik Pedersen, it also seems unlikely that he will be able to make any more additions to his squad. The EFL have blocked Wednesday's loan move for Manchester City attacker Jaden Heskey, as per Pete O'Rourke.
The club had also agreed a temporary move for Manchester United's Harry Amass, as per Sky Sports. News of the EFL's move to not allow Wednesday to sign Heskey doesn't suggest that a deal for the left-back will be possible before the end of the window, which is therefore likely to result in no outfield players being signed by the second tier club throughout the whole window.
Their only acquisition was bringing in Ethan Horvath as an emergency goalkeeper after Charles picked up a shoulder injury.
The lack of signings has been frustrating for Pedersen and the Wednesdayites. If everything remains as it is, the Owls will have to fight an impossible battle to avoid relegation with both hands tied behind their back because of the lack of experience and depth in the side.
At the end of the day, though, the EFL are right to prevent any more players from being added to the books if the club's owner and chairman, Dejphon Chansiri, cannot prove that he has to funds to pay the current crop of players, let alone new ones.
The silver lining of it all, both the transfer window and the start to the season, despite how bad it has been, is the young players. Your Cadamarteri's and your Charles' have stepped up massively to provide the club with just a little sliver of hope. That's all you need sometimes as supporters.
