Jacquet looks like a very good defender who has a massive future ahead of him, and you can see why all the big clubs have been linked with him as having an interest in signing him. But Chelsea are trying to get the drop on all the other clubs by getting a deal done to sign him now during the January transfer window.

Many Blues fans will believe that Chelsea should be adding a proven Premier League centre back to the ranks rather than another young and raw player. But this lad does have an extreme amount of talent and does tick a lot of the boxes that Chelsea need to add at the back.

Sky Germany on the latest

Jeremy Jacquet in action for Rennes in Ligue 1.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany posted the latest on it last night via his X account with an important detail.

He says:

“Important: the negotiations between Chelsea and Stade Rennes over Jérémy #Jacquet are strictly about a winter transfer, not a summer move.

“If negotiations fail now and no other club enters the race, everything will be open again for the summer.”

Chelsea are also apparently interested in signing Ivory Coast international Yan Diomande, in some news we put out this morning via the same source as above actually.

Some player ratings after our win against Brentford yesterday will not be good reading for Alejandro Garnacho, who wasted some decent chances in the game.
