Sky: INEOS ‘stepping up interest’ in Brazil int’l and Premier League star who’s ‘open’ to MUFC move

Manchester United are said to be ‘stepping up [their] interest’ in both Atalanta’s Ederson and West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes, according to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas.

It comes ahead of Casemiro’s impending departure next month, with his final home game upcoming this Sunday against Nottingham Forest.

INEOS targeting Ederson after transfer U-turn

Ederson, 26, agreed personal terms over a transfer to Atletico Madrid back in March, until the deal stalled due to the Spaniards being unwilling to shell out his £39 million price tag.

They have since turned their attention to Wolverhampton Wanderers star Joao Gomes, paving the way for United to ignite their pursuit of Ederson, whose contract with Atalanta expires next summer.

Elsewhere, the Reds have set their sights on the Irons’ midfield talisman Fernandes, who is reportedly ‘open’ to an Old Trafford switch.

The 21-year-old may be about to suffer a second successive relegation from the top flight, having fallen victim to the dreaded drop with Southampton last season.

West Ham have two fixtures remaining to determine their fate, while simultaneously wanting favours from Tottenham Hotspur’s last two opponents, Chelsea and Everton.

Either way, Fernandes might be on the move.

He is attracting growing interest, and should United make a formal approach in the coming weeks, it would give him the opportunity to ply his trade in the Champions League.
