Nottingham Forest are fully aware that they face a battle to keep hold of Elliot Anderson next summer.

The midfielder has been garnering interest from a host of top European sides over the last year.

More recently, however, Manchester United have entered the fray, having seemingly identified Anderson as a more fitting option than Carlos Baleba, whom they held talks with before 2025/2026 got underway.

Why Elliot Anderson might be on his way out of the City Ground next year

It’s safe to say Forest will be doing their utmost to keep hold of the 23-year-old, but may be cornered into a sale in the event they drop back down to the Championship come May 2026. Currently, they sit 19th-placed in the table on only nine points.

Such an event would almost certainly spur Anderson on to explore alternative options, given he won’t be short of suitors if his form continues as it is.

Unfortunately for the Red Devils, Newcastle United, his boyhood club, have also set their sights on bringing him back to St. James’ Park, having been made to facilitate the academy graduate’s sale for PSR reasons just over a year ago.

There’s a chance the coveted talent, who’s now a fully-fledged England international after making his debut on September 6, could favour a return to where it all began for him on Tyneside.

Nonetheless, United are continuing to monitor the situation.

Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg revealed on Monday that the Reds ‘remain keen’ on signing Anderson and have ‘registered concrete interest’.

Forest, on the other hand, ‘are informed’ of United’s desires, and have set their valuation in the region of £100-120 million, meaning they stand to make a profit of at least £65 million if their demands are met.
