Al-Hilal are closing on a historic deal, with Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville poised for a long-term move from West Ham. It would be the Saudi giants’ first foreign signing of the summer window.

The Athletic reports the fee would be 80 million euros, which would rank behind Neymar’s 90 million and above Jhon Duran’s 77 million for Al-Nassr. Unless Al-Hilal top it themselves, it could be the biggest Saudi transfer of this summer given rivals’ financial limits.

Some supporters worry about a repeat of high-profile misfires. Neymar arrived in summer 2023 for 90 million, then departed in January 2025 after injuries restricted him to seven matches and 428 minutes, with one goal and three assists.

Duran joined Al-Nassr in January 2025 for 77 million but lasted only half a season. He made 18 appearances, totalling 1,541 minutes and 12 goals, plus four yellows and one red, then moved to Türkiye’s Fenerbahçe and later Zenit, scoring seven in 30 before Benfica.

Summerville’s club form has fluctuated. He delivered seven goals and five assists in 34 matches last season, after one goal and two assists in 22 during his first year that totalled 989 minutes. He impressed at the 2026 World Cup with two goals and two assists in four games, though he did not start in two.

Al-Hilal followers hope the Dutchman brings substance as well as noise next season, avoiding the fates of Neymar and Duran.
