Tottenham Hotspur claimed an emphatic 0-3 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium, a result that piles more pressure on Graham Potter. Spurs moved up to second in the Premier League table, level on points with Arsenal, with Brentford and Chelsea still to play later in the weekend.
This was a statement performance from Thomas Frank’s side, who have now recorded back-to-back away wins in the league. In doing so, Frank became only the third Tottenham manager to win his first two away top-flight matches, joining Ossie Ardiles (1993-94) and Tim Sherwood (2013-14).
For West Ham United, the evening brought more frustration. Their winless home run in the league now stretches back to 27 February, and they have conceded eight goals across their first two home fixtures of this campaign.
Tottenham dominated possession but had to wait until the second half to make the breakthrough. Pape Matar Sarr was left unmarked inside the box and guided a header past Alphonse Areola to give Spurs the lead. It was a goal that reflected Tottenham’s patience and West Ham’s lack of defensive focus.
The Hammers’ challenge became even steeper moments later when Tomas Soucek was sent off for a lunging challenge on Joao Palhinha in the 54th minute. It was a pivotal moment that changed the mood inside the stadium and left West Ham chasing shadows.

Just nine seconds after the restart, Spurs doubled their lead. Lucas Bergvall, impressive throughout, produced a looping header that left Areola stranded and effectively ended West Ham’s hopes of a comeback.
Micky van de Ven added a third shortly after the hour mark, capitalising on passive defending to drive home and send Tottenham fans into raptures. The goal prompted many home supporters to head for the exits, their frustration clear as West Ham’s poor form continued.
This defeat leaves West Ham 18th in the Premier League table and increases scrutiny on Graham Potter’s position. After a brief respite with a win at Nottingham Forest before the international break, this performance exposed familiar frailties. West Ham looked short of belief and organisation, and the dismissal of Soucek only deepened their woes.
For Tottenham, the win represents a significant step in their early-season push to keep pace with Arsenal. With attacking fluidity and defensive resilience, Spurs appear to be growing under Frank’s management and have shown they can win convincingly on the road.
