TeamTalk reports that Igor Tudor is expected to leave Tottenham by mutual consent after weeks of discussions, with former Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton and former Monaco manager Adi Hutter under consideration before next month’s visit to Sunderland.
Tudor took over after Thomas Frank’s departure last month. His first match ended in a 4-1 home loss to Arsenal. He has taken one point from five league games, a 1-1 draw at Liverpool.
A 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16 brought respite, but Spurs had already lost the first leg 5-2 in Madrid. They returned to league action with a dismal 3-0 home defeat to strugglers Nottingham Forest, leaving them one point and one place above the relegation zone.
The report said there was an internal agreement to act if Forest won at Tottenham on Sunday. It also noted Tudor is ready to step aside following the death of his father, Mario.
Both Hughton and Hutter are viewed as viable options. Hughton played over 300 times for Spurs and spent 14 years as reserve team manager, first team coach, caretaker and assistant, before leaving in February 2008 for Newcastle, where he became first team coach, then manager after an interim spell. He is the last manager to deliver a home Tyne-Wear derby win for Newcastle, in October 2010.
Should Spurs make a change, the interim’s first game would be at Sunderland on April 12, with hosts chasing Europe and seeking to worsen Spurs’ relegation concerns.
