Standard de Liège’s 0-4 home loss to La Gantoise on Friday was followed by angry scenes as supporters targeted the home dressing room at Sclessin.
According to Sudinfo, ultras left their stand in the 85th minute, moved towards the players’ area and tried to get inside.
Some gained access via the main stand and caused damage, including throwing food laid out for the squad. The unrest spread into the club’s business area, where flares were thrown.
The protest prevented head coach Vincent Euvrard from giving his customary post-match interview to DAZN. He later told reporters that no one expects such situations, that he was in another room and only heard what happened, describing it as frightening. He said the team must stay united, that he will do his job as best he can, it is on him to find solutions, and he feels capable of doing so.
The heavy defeat leaves Standard on three consecutive league losses. They are seventh in the Jupiler Pro League, 18 points behind leaders Union Saint-Gilloise.
