Derry Murkin changed it in the 55th minute with a pinpoint cross, setting up the equaliser as Derby County beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1. The defender later supplied the clincher to complete a two-assist display.
Early in the second half, Murkin's deliveries immediately asked questions, creating shooting chances for team-mates from both flanks as Derby built pressure.
He then produced the key moment, bending a cross that Ben Brereton Díaz swept in (55.). The quality and timing of the ball unlocked a compact defence just as the game tilted.
Late on, the full-back attacked space again and stood up a fine cross that Rhian Brewster headed in (82.). His wide threat kept Blackburn Rovers pinned back and preserved Derby's control of the contest.
Murkin finished with two assists, four key passes and 12 successful final third passes from 66 touches, underlining how the Rams' left side became the game's route to goal.
Derby rise from 12th to 7th in the Championship and host Sheffield Wednesday next. Blackburn Rovers welcome Portsmouth.
