VfB Stuttgart have officially confirmed Dennis Seimen as their first-choice goalkeeper for the 2026/27 season. The 20-year-old returns from a loan at SC Paderborn, where he helped secure promotion.

“Dennis had a fantastic season in Paderborn. He is not an experiment; we fully believe he is ready for the role as our number one. There are no differing opinions within the club – we all share that view,” said sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth, speaking to DPA.

He will take over in goal with Alexander Nübel returning to Bayern Munich after three seasons on loan at Stuttgart.

“Dennis is a young goalkeeper who loves competition and challenges,” he added.

“Even though he does not yet have the experience of a 35-year-old, he has consistently adapted extremely quickly to new levels of performance and quickly become an influential figure at each stage of his development – whether with Germany’s youth national teams, in the third division, or most recently in the second division with Paderborn.”

Stuttgart have also strengthened their goalkeeping group with Marius Funk joining from Energie Cottbus. Veteran Fabian Bredlow remains in the squad, and 18-year-old Fabian Hellstern has extended his contract.
