Sunderland and Newcastle United ‘make enquiries’ for Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram | OneFootball

Calcio Mercato reports that Sunderland, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have made enquiries over a possible deal for Juventus and France midfielder Khephren Thuram.

The Black Cats are yet to make their first summer signing as they prepare for a maiden Europa League campaign. They have been boosted by indications Granit Xhaka looks set to remain despite strong interest from Chelsea.

The Switzerland international was part of a hectic recruitment drive 12 months ago, laying foundations for one of the most memorable seasons in Sunderland’s long history.

Although additions are expected, director of football Florent Ghisolfi has said stability will be the focus for the rest of this window. A range of names have been linked with Wearside, and Thuram has been mentioned amid doubt over his Juventus future.

The report also cited high-profile admirers for the 25-year-old, including Manchester United and Liverpool, with Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and European champions Paris Saint-Germain among the clubs named. Forest are described as flush after receiving £115m for Elliot Anderson.
