In a recent report, Sunderland Echo stated that Sunderland are big admirers of Bologna defender Emil Holm. It has been stated that the Black Cats are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Swedish talent in this summer transfer window.

Holm’s Impressive Loan Spell At Juventus

Holm served as an important role player during his loan spell at Juventus last season. However, he missed a lot of games in the previous campaign due to injury. The 26-year-old made eight appearances for the Turin giants last season but failed to score or create a goal for them in multiple competitions.

The Swedish sensation is currently among the most talented full-backs in Serie A. Thus, it is no surprise that the Black Cats are hoping to get a deal over the line for him later this year.

His current contract at his parent club, Bologna, will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Sunderland to sign him on the cheap in this ongoing transfer window.

Will Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Move In For Holm?

Holm loves a tackle and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

However, the Swedish sensation has to find a way to add some goals and assists to his game. Plus, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of Premier League football if the Black Cats manage to get a deal over the line for him this summer.

Holm would add more quality and depth to Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris’ defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Stadium of Light next season.

At 26, Holm has his peak years ahead of him. However, he is prone to injuries, which makes him a risky option for the Wearside club to consider in this summer transfer window. Still, Le Bris should focus on moving in for Holm as he will help the Black Cats compete across all fronts in the future.
