In a recent report, Turkish news outlet Fotospor mentioned that Sunderland are still in the running to land Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara. It has been stated that the Black Cats would have to compete with Leeds United in the race to sign the Brazilian talent this year.

Sara’s Impressive Form In Turkish Football This Season

Sara has caught the eye at times with his performances for Galatasaray at the centre of the park. The 26-year-old has registered two goals and earned two assists in 26 matches for the Turkish outfit this season across all fronts.

The Brazilian talent is currently among the best midfielders in the Turkish Super Lig. Hence, it is no surprise that the Black Cats are hoping to get a deal done for him this year.

His current contract at the Turkish club will run out in the summer of 2029. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Sunderland to sign him on a cut-price deal this winter or at the end of this campaign.

Will Sara Be A Decent Fit For Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris?

Sara is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his team in the middle of the park. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and excels at playing his way out from midfield.

The Brazilian sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a few crucial goals for his team. Sara is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in England.

We can expect Sara to bring more quality and depth to Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’s midfield department. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team football at the Stadium of Light.

At 26, Sara has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Black Cats to consider this year. He might even help Sunderland compete across all competitions in the coming seasons. With all things considered, Sara would be a great fit for the Premier League side to pursue in the short term.
