The club said in a statement that 65 away tickets have been returned to sale for Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby at St James’s Park, after allocations were cancelled amid a large-scale breach of its ticketing rules. Sales open at 12pm today.
Following a review, tickets purchased by a supporter found to be in breach of policies governing away-ticket use were cancelled.
Away allocations must be used by genuine supporters and the integrity of the allocation process will be protected. Breaking ticket terms may lead to cancellations and possible suspension from matches at the Stadium of Light.
The extra seats are expected to draw strong demand as fans prepare to travel to Tyneside for the latest instalment of the rivalry on Sunday.
Sunderland won the reverse fixture at the Stadium of Light 1-0 earlier this season, the winner recorded as a Woltemade own goal.
