Sunderland's FA Cup fifth-round tie has been set for Sunday, the eighth of March, with kick-off at half past one, live on TNT Sports 1 and discovery+. The opponents and venue remain to be confirmed.
As reported by Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats beat Oxford United in the fourth round at the Kassam Stadium on Sunday, then drew Port Vale or Bristol City. Their meeting at Vale Park was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Sunderland will face the winner, with the destination decided on Tuesday, the third of March, when Vale and City fulfil their delayed fourth-round tie.
The broadcast pick is worth £120,000 to Sunderland, and the winner will also collect £238,500 in prize money.
Port Vale sit at the foot of League One, 12 points from safety after replacing Darren Moore with former Northampton boss Jon Brady. Bristol City are ninth in the Championship under Gerhard Struber, one point off the play-off places.
Sunderland will be without Trai Hume and Noah Sadiki due to suspensions for second bookings in the competition against Oxford. The club remain hopeful Bertrand Traore and Granit Xhaka will be back from injury for the tie.
