Sunderland have opened talks with Bertrand Traoré over his future, while new accounts reveal £47,346,348 in transfer commitments ahead of Sunday’s Tyne-Wear trip to Newcastle.
Portuguese outlet A Bola reported disciplinary issues for loanee Luís Hemir at Moreirense.
Head coach Régis Le Bris said talks with Traoré have begun, adding it is early and undecided. The winger joined from Ajax on a one-year deal with an option.
Injuries have disrupted him since the Africa Cup of Nations, with a knee issue on international duty and a recurrence at Elland Road. He is likely out for about another month, and Sunderland hope he can feature late on.
The 2024-25 accounts, covering the promotion season, show an operating loss of £1.1m and turnover of £40.3m. Gate receipts rose 14.3% to £13.3m, player sales delivered about £45m, and staff costs exceeded £50m due to bonuses.
Close to £10m was invested in facilities, and post-window transfer commitments total £47,346,348.
Wilson Isidor confirmed he will represent Haiti after reflecting on a call-up, expressing pride and a desire to honour the nation.
Hemir scored against Nacional but was an unused substitute in defeat to FC Porto and did not warm up. Moreirense considered his pre-match behaviour inappropriate, and manager Vasco Botelho stressed group standards and development, noting his long association with the forward.
Police will escort travelling supporters from Newcastle Central Station to St James’ Park on Sunday. The main escort leaves at 10.15am, with fans urged to arrive early for the 12pm kick-off and to expect queues.
