Sunderland US tour squad reveals visa blow, probable exits and chances for youngsters | OneFootball

Sunderland have landed in Nashville to begin their USA tour, with a visa setback and selection clues in the travelling party.

According to Sunderland Echo, the club have confirmed a 26-man group. A double session on Thursday precedes Saturday’s opener against Liverpool.

Jocelin Ta Bi remains on Wearside after a rejected visa. An appeal is under way and the club hope he can still feature. With no senior right winger, this would have been a prime chance for the 21-year-old.

Wilson Isidor has linked up after Haiti duty, with Simon Adingra and Arthur Masuaku due after the first game following round-of-32 exits. Both are expected to leave this summer, Adingra drawing UK and continental interest after a solid Monaco loan, which suggests no deal is advanced.

Anthony Patterson and Alan Browne have also travelled despite loans last season. Browne impressed at York City and will likely get further chances across the three games, with Granit Xhaka to rejoin after the tour.

Ahmed Abdullahi has not travelled as he closes in on Eyüpspor. Aji Alese played 45 minutes at York City but stayed on Wearside, and his omission points to a move for minutes as left-side reinforcements are planned.

With Roefs, Sadiki and Brobbey sidelined until later in the tour, and Alderete and Talbi due for Lens, Le Bris is likely to lean on youngsters against Liverpool. Leo Hjelde has travelled despite a knee issue, Ben Kindon offers cover, and Dan Ballard and Romaine Mundle are on track for minutes.
