Sunderland Women have appointed Rehanne Skinner as technical director, a statement of intent under new owners Bay Collective, who took a majority stake earlier this month. The former WSL head coach at Spurs and West Ham United arrives to shape the club’s football direction.
The club said in a statement that she will lead all sporting and football operations, oversee recruitment, align the first team and academy pathway and deliver the footballing vision.
Skinner expressed strong belief in the owners’ project, describing Sunderland as a club with a proud history, passionate supporters and huge potential. She intends to work with Kay Cossington and the Bay Collective team to build the structures and environment aimed at helping the side return to where it belongs and pursue sustained success.
She pointed to the North East’s record of producing leading players and the opportunity to harness that talent. The role also carries personal meaning, with her mother from the region.
Bay Collective’s approach centres on sustainable growth with real ambition, and Skinner brings more than 25 years of elite experience across professional and international settings. The appointment underlines Sunderland Women’s push to establish the structures, leadership and long-term vision required to compete at the highest level and build a sustainable future.
