Mamelodi Sundowns have been pitted against Rulani Mokwena's MC Alger in the CAF Champions League group stages.
The 38-year-old South African mentor will face his former club after leaving at the end of the 2023/24 campaign following an alleged rift with Sporting Director Flemming Berg.
Following his abrupt exit at Sundowns, Mokwena took over the reins at Wydad Casablanca and has since moved on to the Algerian champions.
Mokwena has been tasked with guiding MCA to the latter stages of Africa's premium club competition, while Miguel Cardoso also set sights on lifting the competition.
The Portuguese tactician reached the last two Champions League finals but lost both matches to Al Ahly and Pyramids FC, respectively.
With both coaches eager to make a statement, it remains to be seen who will reign supreme in the highly anticipated match.
Meanwhile, Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman and FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo, who knocked out Orlando Pirates in the second preliminary round, are also in Group C.
