FC Bayern appears to be continuing to scout the market for a central midfielder. Now, a young Premier League pro who is also playing in the World Cup is coming into focus.

FC Bayern is apparently on the lookout for reinforcements in central midfield. Following Leon Goretzka’s confirmed departure, a new option for the center of the field could become an interesting prospect for the Munich squad. One name that’s now coming up is Lucas Bergvall.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Bayern is monitoring the progress of the Swedish international from Tottenham Hotspur. The 20-year-old is considered one of the most exciting midfield prospects in the Premier League and is under contract in London through 2031.

What’s particularly noteworthy: Bergvall is said to have hinted that he would like to leave Tottenham. This could lead to some movement on the transfer front this summer. According to the report, Nottingham Forest is also interested in the Swede, alongside FC Bayern. Aston Villa and Chelsea had already made inquiries back in January, though Chelsea is reportedly currently exploring other options.

On the field, Bergvall possesses a skill set that could certainly be of interest to Bayern. The right-footed player is most comfortable in central midfield but can also be deployed in more attacking or defensive roles. At 1.87 meters, he also has a strong physical presence, which he combines with technical ability and game intelligence.

Last season, Bergvall made 33 competitive appearances across all competitions for Tottenham. He scored one goal and provided five assists. He took the field 23 times in the Premier League and has also gained experience in the Champions League.

His market value is currently estimated at 35 million euros. Tottenham signed Bergvall from Djurgårdens IF in the summer of 2024 for around ten million euros. Even before his move to England, he was considered a candidate for FC Bayern. Since then, the Swede has continued to develop and has significantly increased his market value.

Bergvall is also in the spotlight at the World Cup. He played for Sweden in the first two group stage matches against Tunisia and the Netherlands. In the 1-5 loss to Tunisia, he even scored his team’s only goal.

For FC Bayern, Bergvall would not be an immediate solution with superstar status, but rather a player with great potential for development. Profiles like his could become particularly interesting following the shake-up in the midfield. It remains to be seen just how serious Munich’s interest actually is. One thing is clear, however: If Bergvall were to want to leave Tottenham, his name would likely quickly gain prominence on the transfer market.
