One Leicester City player has enjoyed a strong run of form recently

Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes will be extremely grateful for an upturn in form from one of his players, which has helped the Foxes' mini-resurgence in recent times.

The Foxes have experienced a mixed 2025/26 campaign thus far, with the season starting positively for them. Whilst the other teams that had just been relegated from the Premier League, Southampton and Ipswich Town, struggled to begin with, Leicester won three of their opening four contests.

This immediately placed them as one of the favourites to achieve promotion back up to the top-flight, with operators such as Abdul Fatawu and Jeremy Monga impressing. However, the King Power Stadium outfit couldn’t sustain that form.

From late August until early November, Cifuentes’ side would win just one single match. This run spanned 10 matches and saw Leicester drop from promotion contenders to mid-table.

During this time, the club’s legal battle with the Premier League continued to rumble on, with murmurs of a nine-point deduction gaining momentum. Soon, the prospect of a relegation scrap seemed more realistic than fighting at the top of the division, which isn’t what supporters would’ve expected heading into the campaign.

After wins over Norwich City and Stoke City, Leicester were defeated by Sheffield United and Southampton. During this time, Cifuentes came under immense pressure and talk began to spread that he could soon lose his job.

An upturn in form since then seems to have cooled these claims, with one player in particular playing a large part in Leicester’s improved performances.

Although Leicester weren’t able to add many players to their ranks during the summer transfer window, they managed to keep hold of some top-quality operators who should excel in the second-tier.

Fatawu is one of them, with the attacker proving on several occasions that he possesses a skillset far superior to the one required to play at this level, showcased by the number of exquisite strikes he has dispatched thus far.

Another one of these players is Bobby Decordova-Reid, who has enjoyed some excellent performances as of late.

The 32-year-old, estimated to earn £35,000 per week by Capology, is no stranger to Championship defences, having operated out of the second-tier for a number of years with teams such as Bristol City and Fulham, while also gracing the Premier League at Cardiff City and the Cottagers.

Decordova-Reid had struggled to get going during the first stages of the season, with most of his appearances coming from the bench, in a time when Leicester were lacking a creative spark.

However, the playmaker has been central to their success in recent times. The Foxes have picked up seven points from their last three outings, which has propelled them back up the table and into play-off contention once more.

Decordova-Reid opened the scoring in Leicester’s 3-1 away win at Derby, which halted the Rams’ own run of good form. Next, he notched the second strike in his side’s 2-2 draw away at Bristol City, which is a clash that Cifuentes’ outfit led by two goals at one stage.

Continuing his brilliant run, Decordova-Reid stuck the opener against high-flying Ipswich Town, as Leicester ran out 3-1 victors over the Tractor Boys.

With three goals in as many matches, the Jamaican international has proven himself to be a crucial component in the Foxes’ squad.

Cifuentes will be full of admiration for the attacker, as his contributions have gone a long way to relieving the pressure surrounding the Spaniard at one stage.

Everyone connected to Leicester will hope that Decordova-Reid can continue this run over the festive period and help push the King Power outfit further towards the play-off places.

Bobby Decordova-Reid knows what it takes to achieve promotion to the Premier League

There is still plenty of football left to play this season and there is every chance that Leicester could find themselves in the promotion hunt come May.

What will advantage them is the operators within their squad who know how to get promotion over the line.

Decordova-Reid is one of those players, having achieved that feat twice whilst with Fulham. This expertise will prove crucial in the dressing room and on the pitch, especially when competing with other teams that lack those elements.
