The Scandinavians went into their decisive top-two showdown in Group C with a one-point lead over Scotland. Until shortly before the end of the match, the Danes were holding onto their World Cup ticket with the score at 2-2, but the hosts from Britain struck in the third and eighth minute of stoppage time and celebrated a 4-2 win as well as victory in the group. Kristensen started in Glasgow but was sent off for a second booking in the 61stminute.

Big win for Theate

Belgium, meanwhile, crowned their qualifying campaign with a 7-0 win over Liechtenstein, with Theate playing the full 90 minutes in the centre of defence. With that the Red Devils sealed their place at the 2026 World Cup, as did Switzerland with a 1-1 draw in Kosovo. Amenda didn’t feature and continues to wait for his fifth senior international appearance.

Having already qualified for the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico, Japan and Tunisia played friendlies on Tuesday. Ritsu Doan came on for the start of the second half of the Samurai Blue’s 3-0 win against Bolivia, while Ellyes Skhiri played the duration of Tunisia’s 1-1 draw against Brazil in Lille, France.

Collins victorious with U21s

Nnamdi Collins also got another 90 minutes under his belt in Germany U21s’ 2-0 win away to Georgia. The German youngsters are second in Group F of European Championship qualifying on 12 points, behind Greece who have a perfect record of five wins from five games. In Group H, Noah Fenyö and Hungary U21s slipped to a 2-0 defeat against their counterparts from Croatia. Fenyö played the full match in Budapest.
