There's no way back, it's all over for Arne Slot at Liverpool

There's simply no way back for Arne Slot at Liverpool anymore.

Things have perhaps never been as bleak at Anfield as they are right now. Who would've thought we would be saying this 12 months, or even nine months ago?

It's crazy how quickly a reputation can come tumbling down. Sadly, Slot has contributed to this himself. Bizarre comments in the media. From calling out Jarell Quansah after his first Premier League game, to snide remarks about Calvin Ramsay, even forgetting how old the Liverpool right-back was.

Some of Slot's comments have been taken out of context, or blown out of proportions. English is his second language and that is important to note as well.

But watch his press conferences, and you will see a man who does not inspire confidence. A man who rarely accepts responsibility but is very quick to highlight the deficiencies of his squad and blames this on Liverpool's shortcomings.

As a player part of that squad, think about how it would make you feel for your manager to basically be constantly saying what I have to work with is not good enough.

Will that make you want to put in blood, sweat, and tears for a manager who clearly doesn't believe in you?

He emphasised this sentiment after the Aston Villa game, talking up the summer transfer window. Again highlighting he needs change.

It's a poor manager's excuse to blame his team's bad performance on his players rather than to accept what he has at his disposal and concoct something successful out of that.

It's why Slot has to go.

Liverpool fans do not want the next Jurgen Klopp. They know there's only one. But to have the complete antithesis of the great man is not acceptable.

A manager should make every player feel as a respected and valuable member of the squad. Klopp was incredible at doing this. He made Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips play so well, Liverpool finished third with that duo playing at the centre of defence.

Just think about how Slot would handle a situation like that.

Liverpool have always operated in a certain way. This way has favoured smaller squads with Klopp and before him Brendan Rodgers being tasked with promoting academy talent.

What the data team overlooked when scouting Slot was not only his pitiful track record at bringing through academy players everywhere he has worked as a coach but also his lack of charisma.

You can be the best tactician in the world. But if you cannot inspire your players, if you cannot have the buy-in from your players, it's all for nothing.

At Liverpool, it seems like Slot has fallen victim to that. Mo Salah's latest post at least insinuates this when describing his lack of faith in the club's current way of playing.

Right now, Liverpool are seemingly backing Slot. The thinking behind closed doors must be that with a new set of players, there will be more buy-in for this head-coach than from the previous ones.

But the reality is that with the dressing room seemingly divided, highlighted by the mass 'likes' on Salah's post from prominent members in the squad, Slot's chances of uniting this team is zero.

No one, not a single manager, has been able to turn a toxic situation like this around. Klopp himself wouldn't have managed it.

His saving grace was always the fact that the players believed in him, even when things were tough. Right now, that belief appears to have dissipated in Slot.

And that is simply why there is no way back for the Dutchman. It's all over for him at Liverpool. The club can wait and give him the summer but it doesn't matter who Liverpool will buy, the results will remain the same. And sooner or later, Slot will have to sacked.
