With 12 league games remaining, Valencia still need to seal safety and Thierry Correia now faces an audition for a new contract beyond June.

AS reports that Ron Gourlay said recently the club continually review player contracts and are speaking to the agents of Dimitrievski and Thierry about their futures.

The right-back has featured in 17 matches this season and has completed the full 90 only six times. Injuries have disrupted his rhythm. He reached 150 official Valencia appearances a few weeks ago, yet his output has been uneven.

Signed in summer 2019 for 12 million euros as a high-upside full-back, six seasons on Valencia remain undecided on whether to renew him or let him depart for nothing. Long viewed as a potential asset, his performances have not backed that up.

Mestalla whistled him against Osasuna on Sunday, with murmurs at each touch as he slipped more than once and chose poorly. Corberán had planned to replace him, but late discomfort for Ugrinic changed the call as he was about to go off.

After an 11-month knee lay-off, Corberán praised his effort and above-average physical qualities, although he has lacked the continuity he wanted. With Foulquier absent, Correia emerges as the starting option and must show reliability across the run-in to convince the hierarchy.
