Thomas Frank says he does not expect much to change in the way things operate and his role at the club following the departure of Daniel Levy.
Levy, who had been chairman since 2001, has left his post with Peter Charrington named the new non-executive chairman.
“It’s been extremely busy,” Frank said on his start to life at Tottenham. “I haven’t chosen the leadership group yet because there’s been too many other things going on. I need to know the squad, players, staff, new relationships with everyone… All of that had to be built which took some time.
“That was a big thing. Naming a captain for me is not a problem. The bit with Daniel (Levy) is of course big news. But I only worked with him for three months.
“Daniel was not out there on a training pitch or in the meeting rooms. It is basically business as usual for me because the transfer window closed where there was a lot of interaction (with Levy).
“I don’t think it has changed much for me personally so far, so maybe it’s too early to ask about that. But, of course, there are people who have worked with Daniel for so much longer, which is most likely more different for them, I guess.”
Asked if he could see himself sitting down with Levy for dinner someday, Frank replied: “I could easily see myself doing that. That’s very likely.”
Despite goings on off the pitch, the Danish manager‘s tenure has gotten off to a solid start, with two wins from his first three league games.
New forward signing Mohammed Kudus has impressed, registering two assists so far. He will come up against his former side when Tottenham take on West Ham on Saturday.
Speaking about his first impressions of Kudus, Frank said: “Of course, I followed him from a distance. I was, like you, impressed with the first season at West Ham and a little less so with last season. Sometimes, also looking from a distance, they maybe didn’t hit their best season for various reasons.
“I don’t want to go into details. It’s very difficult to judge from the outside. That maybe doesn’t help. From the player perspective, I can only really speak about the player I’m coaching right now. I think he’s been quite consistent with good performances. Hopefully, he can keep that going forward. That’s definitely the aim. Definitely.”
