Ben White adds to Arsenal’s injury woes after limping off in the first half against Wolves
Arsenal went five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a dramatic victory over Wolves.
An own goal from Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera in the 94th minute handed Arsenal a 2-1 win that moves them five points clear of Manchester City.
Wolves had looked set to snatch a draw before then after Tolu Arokodare cancelled out Sam Johnstone’s own goal in the 90th minute.
Mosquera, however, spared Arsenal’s blushes, much to the relief of Mikel Arteta and everyone at Emirates Stadium.
Simon Collings was at the Emirates to see Arsenal in action…
Saka is Arsenal’s saviour
At times, it felt like Bukayo Saka was playing Wolves on his own.
Arsenal were woeful for so much of this game and, whenever they showed any signs of life, it was thanks to Saka.
In the first half, the winger got two or three dangerous crosses into the box - one of which Viktor Gyokeres should have been on the end of.
It always felt like if Arsenal were to get over the line then Saka was going to drag them there, and so it proved.
Saka’s corner created the first goal, with his ball going over everyone and hitting Wolves goalkeeper Johnstone before finding the net.
For the winner, it was Saka that dug out at a cross that flew past Johnstone off the head of Mosquera.
On a night when Arsenal served up their worst performance of the season, Arteta will be thankful Saka was on hand to save the day.
Gyokeres struggles as Jesus shines
Other than Saka, this was a miserable night for many of Arsenal’s attackers.
Eberechi Eze, picked to start ahead of Martin Odegaard, could not get into the game. Gabriel Martinelli, who was electric in Brugge on Wednesday, was quiet and missed a sitter in the first half.
No one struggled more, though, than Gyokeres. The Swede has yet to get going at Arsenal, and this was another difficult game for him.
Simply put, he was anonymous for much of the first half and worryingly on his heels for some chances.

Gyokeres improved after the break, flashing a header wide and putting another effort just past the post.
It was, however, in stark contrast to the impact Gabriel Jesus made off the bench. The Brazilian returned this week from nearly a year out with a knee injury.
He looks super sharp and the clamour for him to start next week at Everton will grow after this.
White adds to injury woes
Arteta spoke earlier this week about how Arsenal are in a “dangerous circle” when it comes to injuries.
And this game was a perfect example of exactly what the Gunners boss is talking about.
Arsenal welcomed back Jurrien Timber and William Saliba to their defence as the pair returned from injury.
But just 30 minutes into this game, there were familiar scenes as another man went down just as someone returned.
This time, it was Ben White who limped off after appearing to injure his left hamstring.

The right-back was chasing back to try and stop a Wolves counter attack, when he pulled up and grabbed his leg.
It sums up Arsenal’s injury woes right now and also felt like a cruel moment for White, who has had his own fitness issues.
The defender was starting the fourth game in a row for the first time in over a year, but now looks set for another spell on the sidelines.
