The Pilgrims successfully defeated Luton Town 1-0 on Saturday, thanks to Brendan Galloway's goal, but Ralls was forced off early on due to a hamstring issue.

Plymouth are in action once again this Tuesday, as they host Mansfield Town, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Stevenage on the weekend, courtesy of Chem Campbell's last-gasp equaliser.

Cleverley's men sit just 14th in the League One table, but they are only six points adrift of the final play-off spot, currently occupied by Huddersfield Town.

Tolaj has been a star performer for Plymouth this term, notching 12 goals and four assists in 24 third-tier appearances, while Ralls has made 10 midfield outings.

Meanwhile, discussing whether the striker is fit to feature against Mansfield on Tuesday, Cleverley told Plymouth Live: "Tolly will have a fitness test tomorrow. We will assess that one. We are hopeful he will be available for selection, but the teamsheets is where we will find out."

The former England midfielder revealed he was more worried about Ralls, though, and said: "Joe Ralls will have a scan today (Monday). These muscle injuries, you have to wait 48 hours to get the clearest scan picture, so that will be this evening.

"We are certainly concerned about Joe. I have seen the action back, and he's at full stretch and then extends again. It's nothing to do with age or previous. It's just an action that he's putting his body to the maximum, and something has gone in the hamstring. We will find out how severe that is this evening."

Argyle have re-established their play-off credentials by enjoying a six-game unbeaten run across all competitions, including three consecutive League One victories.

However, if both Tolaj and Ralls miss their upcoming game with Mansfield, even though Cleverley is hopeful that the striker will be available, it could see their rich vein of form come to an end.

Nigel Clough's men sit three places above Argyle in the League One standings, even though the two clubs are level on points, and haven't been beaten since their 2-1 defeat to Stockport County on 20 December.

Meanwhile, Tolaj has been a vital asset for Plymouth, regularly featuring on the scoresheet and producing assists.

Ralls has also shown his class in midfield since joining the Pilgrims on a free transfer back in November, while his quality is proven by the fact that he was formerly a regular feature for Cardiff City in the Championship.

Beyond their encounter with Mansfield, Argyle face tough encounters with play-off hopefuls Stockport and automatic promotion challengers Lincoln City.

Cleverley will hope that Tolaj and Ralls miss as little action as possible, while his side are vying to win promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking, despite their slow start to the season.
