Trabzonspor ‘have opened talks’ with Bertrand Traoré after Sunderland release

Bertrand Traoré is being lined up for a move to Trabzonspor after his Sunderland exit, with Africafoot reporting the Turkish club have opened negotiations with the 30-year-old’s camp over a free move.

The Burkina Faso international, 30, joined the Black Cats in September last year for around £2.5million on a one-year deal with an option for a further year.

He made 12 Premier League appearances in 2025-26, scoring once, and was released at the end of the season. Injury issues meant he could not establish himself as a regular starter.

Trabzonspor are said to be assessing attacking options ahead of the new campaign and are monitoring Traoré’s situation closely.

The former Chelsea, Lyon, Aston Villa, Villarreal and Ajax winger has played in England, France, Spain and the Netherlands, and has earned more than 90 caps for Burkina Faso.
