Tragedy for Egypt U17: key defender ruled out of FIFA U17 World Cup with ACL tear
The Egypt U17 national team have suffered significant setback at the FIFA U17 World Cup 2025 after right-back Adham Farid was ruled out for the rest of the tournament with torn anterior cruciate ligament ACL.
The Egyptian Football Association EFA confirmed the diagnosis on Monday via official statement revealing that medical tests conducted under the supervision of the team’s doctors confirmed full ACL rupture sustained during the final group-stage match against England.
"The medical examinations have shown that Adham Farid has suffered complete tear in the anterior cruciate ligament" the statement read. "We wish him full and speedy recovery"
The devastating injury comes at difficult moment for coach Ahmed El Kass and his players who have just secured qualification for the tournament’s knockout stages.
Despite losing to England in their final Group Stage match, Egypt finished among the best eight third-placed teams earning spot in the Round of 32.
The young Pharaohs collected four point from three game — a 4-1 win over Haiti, a 1-1 draw with Venezuela and the defeat to England.
