Manchester United are expected to launch an official bid for West Ham star Mateus Fernandes in the coming days.
It has been reported that the Red Devils have already reached an agreement with the midfielder over personal terms, so the next step is to strike a deal with the Hammers over a transfer fee.
According to TEAMtalk, that is set to happen before the end of the week as United are set to make their first bid.
West Ham are believed to be holding out for £85million.

Bayern Munich are ready to hand Michael Olise a new contract in an attempt to ward off interest from Real Madrid.
Bild journalist Christian Falk has said: “Bayern want to nearly double Michael Olise’s wages in Munich as part of a deal to keep him at the club until 2031. You’ve heard the saying, if in trouble, make it double.
“The trouble is from Real Madrid – they really want him, and they’re fully aware of just how good he was in the Bundesliga this season.”
Arsenal are finally closing in on a deal for Leicester wonderkid Jeremy Monga.
Standard Sport’s Arsenal correspondent Matt Verri understands that there has been progress in transfer talks between the two clubs following a period of protracted negotiations.
While the move has not been finalised just yet, the Gunners are expected to soon wrap up a deal for the teenage winger worth in excess of £10m.
Arsenal will avoid a tribunal to decide a fee for Monga, who can pen a professional contract at Arsenal when he turns 17 on July 10.
Arsenal and Manchester United are set to go head to head in a battle for Alex Scott.
The former Bristol City midfielder enjoyed a superb season at Bournemouth, helping to guide them into Europe for the very first time and also earning his first senior England call-ups.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal and United are both closely tracking Scott, who could be available this summer for a fee in the region of £60m.
Chelsea are set to make Marco Palestra the first signing of the Xabi Alonso era.
News emerged last night that the Blues had hijacked Inter Milan’s move for the Italy right-back, who has been on loan at Cagliari from Serie A rivals Atalanta.
Talks have progressed at pace over the last 24 hours, with Standard Sport understanding that the deal could be quickly completed today.
All that is left is for Palestra to agree personal terms at Stamford Bridge, though that is not expected to be an issue.
Arsenal also appear to remain in the race for Julian Alvarez.
A huge row has erupted between Atletico Madrid and LaLig rivals Barcelona over the Argentina striker, who has requested a transfer and said he wants to leave the Metropolitano Stadium in order to “fulfil his dream”.
That is thought to mean a move to Barca, who are set to be subject to a complaint to FIFA lodged by Atletico.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have not given up hope over bringing the ex-Manchester City marksman back to the Premier League, with renewed talk of an audacious swap deal.
It has been suggested in Spain that Alvarez could yet move to the Emirates Stadium, with Viktor Gyokeres and a fee in the region of €60m heading in the opposite direction.
Arsenal look to be stepping up their pursuit of Morgan Rogers.
The England star appears to be the top transfer priority in north London this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to significantly strengthen his Premier League title-winning squad.
Rogers is believed to be keen on joining Arsenal, if a fee can be agreed with Aston Villa. Which is a big if at the moment.
According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Arsenal and Rogers’ camp have reached an agreement on a contract in principle that would run until the summer of 2031.
Now to see if the two clubs can strike a similar accord.
Aston Villa have told clubs they are not interested in selling Morgan Rogers, according to Sky Sports.
Arsenal are known to be among the teams interested in adding the England forward, but Villa are not expected to welcome bids and reportedly will not name a clear asking price for the player.

Arsenal great Aaron Ramsey has signed as manager of Oxford United.
He has previously spent time with Cardiff City and the Wales national team, but this will be his first full-time managerial role.
He said: “It’s an honour and privilege to be appointed Head Coach of Oxford United.
“From my discussions with the Club, I can sense the ambition and desire for success, which gives me great excitement about this opportunity.
“This is a moment I have been preparing for over many years. I’ve played under some of the best managers in the game and experienced high-pressure environments throughout my career. I want to use what I’ve learnt to bring a culture of high standards, professionalism and work ethic to this talented group of players.
“My teams will play with a clear identity, be built on elite habits, with a commitment to improving every day. I want a squad that fights for the badge until the end, and one that makes our supporters proud.”
