Tyler Adams: Why Man United want to sign Bournemouth midfield powerhouse

Manchester United’s defeat against Newcastle United last week underlined the need for greater physicality in midfield.

Sandro Tonali and Joelinton outmuscled the Red Devils, seldom allowing them space and time to play through them. The pair did the same against Barcelona’s technically gifted midfielders last night.

As part of their midfield overhaul, United should certainly prioritise signing players who are comfortable and incisive in possession. At the same time, they should also target workhorses to add some steel in the middle of the park for tricky away fixtures.

Premier League giants tempted by Tyler Adams’ price tag

It has been widely reported that Manchester United intend to sign at least two midfielders in the summer.

Marquee names like Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, and Sandro Tonali are all valued at around £100 million. As such, United may be forced to look at cheaper alternatives to strengthen their midfield with different profiles.

According to CaughtOffside, United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all interested in Bournemouth’s dynamic midfielder Tyler Adams, as there is the feeling he could be available “without costing a fortune this summer.”

The report states: “Bournemouth could consider offers in the region of £30 million for Adams.”

Manchester United appreciate Tyler Adams’ profile

United are “on the lookout for a proven Premier League midfielder” and are said to view Tyler Adams as “a strong candidate who fits their tactical needs”.

A product of Red Bulls Academy, Adams is known for his pressing power and dominance in duels. Arsenal legend Ian Wright compared him to French midfield powerhouse N’Golo Kante.

The USMNT star’s energy and resilience in the middle of the park, combined with his international pedigree, have made him an appealing option at Old Trafford.

However, it is suggested that the 27-year-old’s suitors may prefer to wait until after the FIFA World Cup to “make a definitive move”. This would allow them to assess Adams’ form and fitness over a longer period.

Bournemouth are also in no hurry to part ways with their midfielder, who is tied to the club until the summer of 2028.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are keeping an eye on Ibrahim Sangare, who is also more of a midfield destroyer than a metronome.
