Pierce Charles set the tone in the 25th minute with a sharp save, underpinning Sheffield Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Leicester City.
Moments later he blocked Oliver Skipp's close-range effort (26.). The Owls' keeper then palmed away Stephy Mavididi's strike from distance (39.) and denied Luke Thomas from the left side of the box (44.).
After the restart he got down to Harry Winks's low drive (56.) and pushed aside Divine Mukasa's effort from range (68.). Under sustained Foxes pressure, Charles repelled Mavididi (72.) and then stood up to Ricardo Pereira from the centre of the area (72.).
His late handling was immaculate: he tipped away Bobby Decordova-Reid in the fourth minute of stoppage time, parried Dujuan Richards in the fifth minute of stoppage time, and clawed out Jordan Ayew's header in the seventh minute of stoppage time. He finished with 11 saves and three high claims, a workload reflected by the Foxes' 12 shots on target.
Because the visitors peppered the box with crosses and strikes, Charles's positioning and aerial takes repeatedly released pressure, especially as Leicester delivered 40 crosses. That assurance allowed the Owls to protect their early lead for long spells and, ultimately, secure a point.
