FC Barcelona president-elect Joan Laporta once again took a firm stance against Real Madrid and Florentino Perez during his appearance at the Koeman Cup by Fundacion Sportium, held this Friday.
This comes after Perez’s explosive press conference over a week ago, where he sensationally claimed that Real Madrid had been robbed of several league titles because of Barcelona and the Negreira scandal.
Responding to Perez’s allegations, Laporta accused Real Madrid of using this as a distraction to hide their lack of trophies over the past two seasons.
“Everything related to the Negreira case, which isn’t even a case, is falsehoods, and I think they’re doing it to create a smokescreen and divert attention from the fact that they haven’t won anything in two years,” Laporta firmly stated.
“They’re using Barça to cover up their failures. The club is still studying these statements to respond in the appropriate forum,” he further asserted.

Continuing, he added: “They’ve invested a lot and still haven’t won anything, while we keep winning. We’ve won two league titles in a row, two Super Cups, and a Copa del Rey.”
Laporta also made it clear that Barça will respond to any institutional attack, saying: “When they use Barça for their problems, we react, and we react forcefully.”
The president-elect also insisted that today’s Barcelona once again commands respect in Europe, saying:
“We have a great coach, a staff that works well, and a team that people really like. This Barça is once again striking fear into our rivals.”
Laporta also spoke about the UEFA Women’s Champions League final and showed complete confidence in the Barcelona Femeni team.

“I see them as very motivated. We have a great team and a winning mentality,” he said.
“They always move forward, our players and our coaches do things very well. There’s a lot of excitement surrounding this final,” he added.
Concluding, Laporta added: “OL Lyonnes came looking for our players and our staff, a sign that Barça is a benchmark and is doing things right.”
