Valencia await Unai Núñez tests after Celta injury concern | OneFootball

Unai Núñez is awaiting medical tests after feeling discomfort in Valencia’s match against Celta on Sunday.

According to AS, the defender has become a key pick for Carlos Corberán since his winter arrival, starting the last eight games at centre-back or right-back.

He was taken off shortly after the hour and the next day reported to the Paterna training complex to work in the gym alongside the other starters.

The Celta fixture carried extra meaning, as he faced former team-mates and the club he must rejoin when his Valencia loan ends. He belongs to Celta de Vigo and was eligible at Mestalla because the Galician side did not include a fear clause.

Valencia rest today and return to work tomorrow to begin preparing for Saturday’s derby with Elche at the Martínez Valero.

Long-term absentees Copete, Agirrezabala, Diakhaby and Foulquier continued treatment at Paterna. Luis Rioja also visited the complex to train on his day off.
