Valencia have dismissed Angulo as coach of Mestalla, with the reserve side struggling in the Segunda Federación and fighting to avoid relegation.
According to AS, the Asturian leaves after five seasons leading the B team and work within the academy. Óscar Sánchez, previously in charge of Juvenil A, will take over until the end of the season.
After 28 matches, with six remaining, Mestalla are 13th and sit in the relegation play-off position. In 2026 Angulo managed one win and collected five points from the last 21.
Angulo had focused more on developing players than on results and was unable to halt the downturn. His sacking has surprised many given his long stint in charge, when he had seemed untouchable.
A Valencia great, he made 434 appearances for the club and coached the B team in 132 games, before departing Paterna. Along the way he helped develop first-teamers such as Diego López, César Tárrega and Javi Guerra.
