Boca have agreed to loan reserve striker Valentino Simoni to Gimnasia de Mendoza, a direct opponent in the Torneo Apertura 2026.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the newly promoted top-flight club will take the centre-forward on a one-year deal, with no fee and no purchase option. Boca’s football manager Marcelo Delgado is reshaping the squad by relocating returning loanees and finding first-team minutes for youngsters, alongside recruiting reinforcements.
Simoni leaves Mariano Herrón’s reserve set-up to step into Primera. He registered 13 goals in 37 matches this year, plus four assists.
The Cipolletti-born striker has yet to debut for Boca’s first team, so his top-flight bow will come in Mendoza. He is under contract at Boca until 2028 and is due to return after the loan.
Boca begin 2026 with an intense pre-season under Claudio Úbeda, with double sessions across the opening week led by head fitness coach Adrián Gerónimo. On two January players undergo routine medicals, with the first double day starting on three January. Sunday four January features only a morning session, with double work resuming from five to 10 January.
The following week, a decision is expected on the first of two friendlies close to being finalised, which would be staged on consecutive Saturdays. The team will debut against Deportivo Riestra on Sunday 25 January at La Bombonera.
