Vasco da Gama have lodged a formal bid for left-back Cuiabano, 22, who is owned by Nottingham Forest, but talks hinge on the deal structure. Forest want an immediate permanent sale, while Vasco propose a loan with an obligation to buy.
Vasco have suggested performance triggers, making the purchase mandatory after a defined number of appearances of at least 45 minutes. Data compiled by BolaVip Brasil indicates why the club are pushing so hard.
Compared with current starter Lucas Piton, Cuiabano records 200% greater volume of dangerous attempts on goal. He scored six goals in 2025 and spent 22% more time in the opposition box. His dribble efficiency is almost 30% higher, offering a fourth attacker down the left.
Botafogo’s transfer ban removes a likely return route for a player who lifted the Libertadores and the Brasileiro with them in 2024. He has been with Nottingham Forest’s under-21s since January, his camp do not want to wait, and a Vasco move is viewed positively.
Cuiabano’s attacking edge does not appear to compromise his defence, with 159 defensive duels won in 2025. The signing is seen as a fix for Vasco’s left-sided intensity and could also dovetail with any pursuit of Marino Hinestroza, providing pace on that flank.
