Manchester United’s hunt for a ruthless striker is expected to be the long-running saga of the summer window, with new links emerging on a daily basis.

Ruben Amorim has already decided that Rasmus Hojlund is not the right fit to lead the line for the Red Devils, with the Portuguese tactician hoping for a reunion with his Sporting CP protégé Viktor Gyokeres.

United have kept in touch with the Swede’s camp, and are ready to take advantage of his rift with his parent club, but he is attracting plenty of interest, both from Europe and the Middle East.

One elite striker who has turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League is Victor Osimhen, who is still yearning for a move to the Premier League.

Initially, it seemed like a two-horse race between the 20-time English league champions and Chelsea but now, as per TBR Football, Liverpool have also joined the race.

They held a meeting with the Nigerian’s camp, and the race is heating up for the 26-year-old who scored 37 goals last season for loan club Galatasaray.

“After recently holding discussions with Liverpool, Victor Osimhen is still determined to move to the Premier League this summer, TBR Football understands.

“Sources have confirmed to TBR Football that Liverpool and Man United both held talks with Osimhen’s camp last month. Chelsea were also in the mix previously, but Enzo Maresca’s side have not progressed with their interest.

“Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray and the Super Lig winners would love to bring him back to Istanbul.

“However, TBR Football understands that interest remains from England, and whilst Napoli would be open to a deal, they would want in excess of £50m.”

While his quality has never been in doubt, it is unlikely that INEOS will accept his humongous wage demands with Napoli keen to get rid as soon as possible.

Galatasaray are ready to offer him a gigantic wage package, which will keep him in Europe, but whether he accepts remains to be seen.

It is likely that his future will take time to sort out, and only if no Premier League suitors come up with an acceptable bid will the player look to Turkey or Saudi clubs.
