Raphinha scores twice as champions maintain winning streak

Barcelona tightened their grip on the La Liga title race by extending their lead at the top to seven points following resilient 2-0 victory over Osasuna at Camp Nou on Saturday night.
The reigning champions recorded their seventh consecutive league win maintaining flawless domestic run since their Clasico defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu back in October.
Despite dominating possession and creating flurry of chances, Barcelona struggled to break down stubborn Osasuna side for large periods, in front of more than 40,000 fans at Camp Nou.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 70 minute when Raphinha unleashed powerful strike from the edge of the area after clever lay-off from Pedri ending Osasuna’s resistance.
The Brazilian winger then sealed the result four minutes from time capitalising on defensive lapse to tap home from close range and secure all three point.
Barcelona thought they had opened the scoring earlier when Ferran Torres headed home in the 23 minute but the goal was ruled out for offside following VAR review.
Torres later missed spectacular bicycle-kick attempt while Eric Garcia came inches away from scoring with shot that skimmed past the post.
Osasuna threatened mainly on the counter, with striker Ante Budimir leading the charge but Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia remained alert to deny the visitors.
Early in the second half, Osasuna keeper Sergio Herrera produced excellent save to deny Marcus Rashford from free-kick before substitute Victor Munoz squandered Osasuna’s best chance firing wide when clean through on goal.
