Chelsea are cruising at Stamford Bridge in the Saturday sunshine on their return from a two week break.
The Blues have not played very well in attack, but they have taken advantage of two defensive mistakes to build a comfortable lead over their League One opposition.
This time it was a simple clipped ball over the top from Andrey Santos that caught the Port Vale defence out. Their full back had the chance to just shepherd the ball out, but instead he gave Pedro Neto the chance to nip in front of him.
The Portuguese delivered a nice ball into the box to Joao Pedro, who took it down beautifully, sat down a defender with a feinted shot, then finished into the corner past a helpless goalkeeper.
We’d still like to see this team play better, with more speed and intent on the ball, but we can’t complain about a 2-0 lead. Hopefully we can add another and see some academy players in the second half.

The first goal came from Jorrel Hato, who picked up a loose ball dropping from a corner and lashed it in after just a minute.
Before kick off, Liam Rosenior explained his decision to make Cole Palmer captain.
