Video shows Velo Clube organised supporters invading Estádio Benitão in Rio Claro, São Paulo, to confront players over poor Paulistão form ahead of Sunday’s trip to Santos.

According to Globo.com, the footage captures fans entering through a gate at 18:31 on Wednesday alongside vice-president of football João Marcondelli, who arrived by car. He tried to stop one man and a scuffle followed. A police report was filed.

Audio from the video features insults, with one fan insisting he only wanted to speak to the squad. Another said Neymar should be taken out of the World Cup if necessary, and one remark was aimed at the forward, who could make his 2026 Santos debut in this game after injury.

During the exchange with players, supporters demanded fight and commitment for Sunday at Vila Belmiro, the final round. Velo are 15th and penultimate on five points. A win would keep them up and avoid relegation to Série A2, because Primavera, 13th, and Noroeste, 14th, both on seven, face each other.

The board said on Thursday it did not condone the invasion and that training was interrupted. The note also referenced a flare thrown by fans after last week’s 1-1 home draw with Bragantino.

In a separate note, head coach Pintado said the side would act with loyalty and fair play against Santos.
