Aston Villa’s pursuit of progress under Unai Emery shows no sign of slowing. Since taking charge in 2022, the Spaniard has transformed the club’s trajectory, guiding them to European football in every full season of his tenure. Despite a sluggish start to this campaign, with no goals scored until mid-August, Villa have rediscovered their rhythm, stringing together four successive wins across the Premier League and Europa League.

Emery’s methods have reinvigorated Villa’s belief, structure and ambition. Now, as reported by GiveMeSport, attention turns toward fresh attacking reinforcements for the January window, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Lee Kang-in emerging as a serious target.
According to Fichajes, the South Korean international is being “closely monitored” by Villa. While a regular part of Luis Enrique’s PSG setup, Lee is not a constant starter for the Champions League winners and is believed to be “looking for a project where he can have greater competitive influence.”

At 24, he is entering a key stage of his career, and Villa’s dynamic system could provide the platform he seeks. Despite their recent PSR difficulties, Villa’s recruitment team continue to explore strategic moves that strengthen Emery’s options without destabilising the club’s financial footing.
Described as a “massive” player by those close to the French club, Lee’s technical quality and versatility across attacking positions make him an ideal candidate for Villa’s evolving front line. His ability to operate both centrally and wide could complement the current crop of forwards, including loanee Harvey Elliott and the promising Morgan Rogers, who is yet to replicate his outstanding 2024/25 form.

Villa’s recruitment last winter, which saw Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio join on loan, proved pivotal in their late-season surge. A move for Lee would be a continuation of that ambition, adding another layer of creativity and flair to an already improving side. PSG are said to be open to listening to offers, and Villa’s growing reputation could make them an “attractive option” for the player.
Lee Kang-in is not only technically gifted, but he embodies the type of flair and intelligence that Emery values. Fans at Villa Park have become accustomed to bold recruitment and the thought of a Champions League-calibre attacker joining their ranks fits perfectly with the club’s upward momentum.
There’s a genuine belief among the fanbase that Emery’s project is entering its most ambitious phase. The idea of pairing Lee with the club’s current creative options is mouth-watering. His link play, pressing energy and ability to unlock tight defences would suit Villa’s high-tempo, possession-focused approach in Europe and the Premier League.
Supporters will also note how Villa have quietly built a side with international pedigree. The addition of a South Korean international would strengthen the club’s global appeal, mirroring the commercial success seen by clubs who have signed top Asian talents.
For many Villa fans, this rumour symbolises more than just a potential signing, it represents validation that the club now belongs among Europe’s elite recruiters. If the move materialises, the atmosphere at Villa Park could reach another level entirely as Emery continues to reshape the club in his image.
