Serie A side Milan are still very much considering the possibility of parting ways with Max Allegri. The Rossoneri are in the battle for Champions League qualification and chaos ensuing in every possible way.
Daniele Longo has reported that the ex-Juventus manager can end up leaving the Rossoneri even if they qualify for the top four. CEO Giorgio Furlani has expressed his confidence to Allegri but internally, Milan may have other ideas.
The next few weeks will define if this is just a facade or not. As Vincenzo Italiano is currently the leading candidate to become the next manager. Tony D’Amico is in line to become the next sporting director but the Bologna boss’ arrival may not depend on that.
Francesco Farioli has also been floated as an option but a move remains quite difficult. Porto are already working towards a future with him and the Italian has a release clause which appears hefty.
It feels like everyone at Milan finds their future uncertain. But problems at the club are bigger than the manager, even if Allegri’s system has somewhat held a lot of players back this season.
But he is someone who has a very specific approach to coaching, recruitment and games in general. If he is hired, the club has to completely trust his ideas instead of making changes, making signings on their own accord and then possibly letting him leave in a season.
If anything, the idea of him leaving is very much in line with the narrative around Milan that it is probably a club where no manager can survive for long.
