Gunners are waiting a final decision from the Real Madrid star
The Brazilian reported for pre-season training on Monday after being given an extended break following the World Cup earlier in the summer.
Upon arriving at the Real Madrid training ground in Valdebebas, Vinicius Jr was pictured by the club undergoing medical tests before taking part in a double session.
Preparations for the new campaign continued on Tuesday, with the 26-year-old sharing why pre-season is so important.
“We have to prepare physically so that during the season we have fewer injuries and can count on everyone,” he said.
“Yesterday, we had two sessions; today, just one. That’s how it goes. Today we did some gym work and short exercises to put more load on the legs. It was a good training session, and we all left very tired, but now it’s time to rest for tomorrow.
“That’s how preseason is, and we have to be ready.”
Vinicius Jr also opened up on conversation with Mourinho, revealing what the new Real Madrid boss expects from him heading into the new season.
“It has gone very well, getting to know the new coach and the new players, and training very hard,” he added.
“Mourinho wants me to be as I have always been: happy, cheerful, and playing my football.”
Further talks are now expected to continue between the Brazilian's representatives and Madrid, as Vinicius Jr has now entered the final 12 months of his contract.
The lack of progress towards a bumper extension at the Santiago Bernabeu has led to interest from Arsenal, who are ready and able to move for Vinicius Jr if the opportunity presents itself.
